The 2025 George T. Stagg is 142.8 proof — hazmat territory — at fifteen years and four months, and Breaking Bourbon gave it 4.5 out of 5, saying there's something magical when a high-proof Stagg uses every one of its proof points to carry flavor. Stagg is the flagship of the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection: uncut, unfiltered, barrel-proof bourbon from Buffalo Trace's low-rye Mashbill #1, aged around fifteen years, and named for the 1880s owner of the distillery. The 2025 release is from barrels filled in spring 2010, two months older than the 2024 and the first Stagg over 140 proof in years, bottled with nothing added or removed. Breaking Bourbon: barrel char, root beer, aged oak, rich cinnamon cake, and dark caramel on the nose; aged oak, cinnamon stick, vanilla bean, root beer candy, and faint dried cherry on the palate; and a finish of cinnamon applesauce, char, root beer candy, chewy oak, and rye spice — downright incredibly delicious. Expect the biggest, most oak-driven Stagg of the recent run, with the proof carrying sweetness rather than burn. Honest note: hazmat Staggs are the ones collectors chase hardest — the 2025 sits with the 2022 as the best of the last four years, and it will not be seen at retail again. Neat, a few drops of water, a long evening. Stagg, 2025.Buy George T. Stagg Bourbon Whiskey 2025 online with fast shipping right to your door.
