Ha'penny Four Cask Irish Whiskey is named for Dublin's Ha'penny Bridge, the cast-iron footbridge over the Liffey that once charged a half-penny toll. It comes from the Pearse Lyons family of Alltech, whose Dublin distillery sits in the old St James' Church in the Liberties. This blend marries Irish whiskey matured in four cask types, bourbon, sherry, Port and stout, and is bottled at 43% ABV (86 proof). Each cask contributes: bourbon brings vanilla and caramel, sherry adds dried fruit and nuts, Port a red-fruit sweetness, and the stout casks a roasted, malty depth. The result is layered and rich for its price, with a smooth, warming finish. Sip it neat or build an Irish Old Fashioned on it.This 750ml bottle is a great pick for drinkers who like complexity without a big price tag.
