Kavalan Triple Sherry Cask is the most ambitious and richly layered expression in Taiwan's most celebrated distillery's core lineup — a 93-point sherry masterpiece that combines three distinct sherry cask types into one extraordinarily complex bottle. Kavalan matures the whisky in three types of sherry casks — Oloroso, Pedro Ximénez, and Moscatel — each bringing its own unique character: the dried fruits and nutty depth of Oloroso, the intense dark fruit sweetness of PX, and the floral honey richness of Moscatel, working together in a way that rewards patience in the glass. Taiwan's subtropical climate accelerates the interaction between spirit and cask dramatically, giving the Triple Sherry Cask a depth and richness that Scottish distilleries would need decades to replicate. The nose delivers ripe red berries, fig bread, dates, blueberries, toffee, milk chocolate, and brown sugar pastry with a rose petal and fresh herb note reminiscent of well-aged Cognac, while the palate brings dates, rum raisins, candied fruits, honey sweetness, and dried fruits with a spicy, lingering finish of raisin and jam. 93 points from Tastings.com. Kavalan's flagship introduction to the American market — and one of the most approachable yet complex sherried single malts at any price.
